Time Zone
The South Central AHEC is located in the Central Standard Time zone while Louisville is located in the Eastern Time zone. All of the experiences associated with this rotation will be in the Central Standard Time zone. This means when it is 8 am in Louisville it is 7 am in the Central Standard Time zone. You will need to adjust your watch and alarm clocks accordingly.

Directions from Louisville to AHEC Office
The South Central AHEC office is located on the campus of Western Kentucky University in Bowling Green, KY. The offices are located in the Academic Complex in rooms 405/406/407. The telephone number is 270-745-3325.
Total travel time from Louisville to the AHEC office is about 2 hours and 15 minutes.
♦ Take I-65 South to Bowling Green.
♦ Take the first Bowling Green exit - #28
♦ Get in the Left Hand Lane when you get off the exit ramp and merge onto US 31 W also called Duncan Hines Boulevard. This is a 4 lane divided highway.
♦ Stay on this highway – do not make any turns until you reach the stop light at the intersection of University Boulevard and Normal Drive.
Note: From the time you get on US 31 W until you reach Normal Drive is several miles. The name of the highway will change to Adams Street when it becomes a 2 lane one way street leading through an old section of town. This 2 lane one way street will become a 4 lane two way street when you reach Western Kentucky University (WKU). WKU will be on your left and the railroad tracks and an apartment complex called The Registry will be on your right.
♦ At the stop light just past the football and base ball fields – go straight. The name of the street will change to University Boulevard at this intersection.
♦ Go to the second stop light and turn left onto Normal Drive.
♦ Go through the first stop light and turn left into a service driveway immediately past the red brick Mass Media and Technology Hall and directly across from the Mimosa Parking Lot.
♦ This service drive way leads to the rear of Academic Complex – the building in which the AHEC office is located. As you approach the rear of the building, the AHEC office is located on the right wing. There is an elevator just inside the double doors on the left when you enter building on this wing.
♦ You can park here long enough to come to my office or call me at 270-745-3325. IF you do park and come in the building, please leave your flashing lights on and stick a note in the driver’s side dash that says – Unloading supplies for South Central AHEC office and put your cell phone number so they can call you if the car needs to be moved quickly. This will prevent you from getting a parking ticket.
Note: Landmarks from the time you get off of I-65 at Exit 28 include: Right hand side of the road – Jerry’s Restaurant, Chuck’s Liquors, Swifty Gas, Frint’s Nursery, old & rusty railroad bridge over the Barren River, old renovated railroad station now called The Depot Branch Library ,you will cross Main Street, Houchens Center for Women, and the Registry next to the railroad tracks across from the Western Kentucky University (WKU) Campus. Landmarks on the left hand side will include Hardy & Son Funeral Home, Smoky Pig Barbeque, BG Parks and Recreation, old residential housing area, the WKU Diddle Arena (round basketball arena) and the WKU football field then baseball field.

Go to http://www.wku.edu/directions.html for a map of the Bowling Green area and WKU campus. This is a good map for visual purposes but do not follow the directions on this map as they are different than the above directions.
Guest E-mail Account
You will have access to a guest e-mail account at WKU which will enable you to use the computers in the Mass Media and Technology Hall (MMTH) located directly across from your housing. You will receive your guest e-mail account information upon arrival.
