Our mission is to engage students and faculty in activities designed to provide expertise and improve the health status of the rural community while enhancing the learning experience of our students. We seek to meet our mission by collaborating with healthcare organizations and agencies.

 

The Institute is a part of Western Kentucky University’s College of Health and Human Services. Departments included in this College are Allied Health, Communication Disorders, Consumer & Family Science, Nursing, Physical Education & Recreation, Public Health, and Social Work.

On Thursday July 31st, Race Stork RN was commissioned as a 2nd Lt into the U.S. Army by Col. Mike Kenny.

For the fourth year in a row, students in Western Kentucky University’s Department of Consumer and Family Sciences (CFS) have won national honors for their professional project. The awards were announced on June 21 at the Coordinating Council of CFS Honor Societies luncheon at the 2008 America Association of Family and Consumer Sciences conference in Milwaukee, WI.

The Department of Public Health began moving from Science and Technology Hall during the spring term of 2007. Initially moving into Garret Conference Center, the Department now occupies remodeled offices located in the old Student Health Services area within Academic Complex. This space became available when Student Health moved to their new building. The Department should have the move completed by the beginning of the fall 2008 term
