CFS majors are awarded scholarships and awards by the university and industry each year. The department is proud to announce that since Spring, 2002, CFS has produced the Scholar of the College eight times, five of them were consecutive.  The consistently high standards set by the department keep the students competitive not only for awards and scholarships, but also in the job market. As a matter of fact, CFS has the unique distinction of housing majors that are the first and third largest employers world wide: Hotel, Restaurant, and Tourism Management and Textiles and Apparel Merchandising, respectively. CFS also has the distinction of training more Kentucky Family and Consumer Sciences Educators than any other Kentucky university.
