Karst Resource Management Workshop

The China Environmental Health Project, with major support from the US Agency for International Development and the ENVIRON Foundation, announces "Principles and Methods for Karst Resource Management." The workshop will be held in Kunming at the offices of the Yunnan Provincial Hydrogeology Bureau. The change of location for the workshop will allow more scientists, professors, and students from karst areas to participate. Participants of previous workshops will be asked to instruct and present various topics at this workshop to bring the CEHP goals of 'training the trainers' full circle. At least five of the 12 workshop speakers will be Chinese.

This workshop will not only focus on how to study karst to develop water resources but also how to manage and protect those resources. Speakers from the Chinese and US National Park Service will discuss issues specific to protecting and managing karst park areas, including protection of biodiversity.

The speakers listed below have all accepted invitations to participate as faculty and we are working closely with our Chinese colleagues to get the word out to potential participants among provincial hydrologists from Yunnan and the other karst-rich provinces of SW China.
