Anhui University of Science and Technology Delegation Visit to US

Dr. Mingxu Zhang, President, Mr. Xuefeng Cheng, Dean, Mr. Hanxu Li, Distinguished Full Professor, Dr. Liangmin Gao, and Dr. Fanfei Ming presented USAID project¡¯s results at Wilson Center in May 22, 2008. The delegation also had a meeting with the Chinese Embassy staff (Mr. Ju Jin (Minister-Counselor for Science and Technology), Dr. Xiangdong Zhao (First Secretary for Energy), and Dr Hui Luo (First Secretary for Pollution)). The summary of the meeting is listed below:

• The Chinese Embassy Staff highly values this USAID program because this is the first time (based on their knowledge) that the U.S. Government has directly provided funds to support Science and Technology projects in China.
• Mr. Jin mentioned they would like to visit WKU with other officers from MOST.
• Mr. Jin also expressed his wishes to meet John Pasch in D.C. when John returns to the D.C. area, if possible.
• Mr. Jin will setup a meeting at MOST when we (USAID and WKU) will visit Beijing.
• MOST is very interested in the CO2 capture project and mercury project at AUST. MOST will consider providing funds to support these projects.
