Western Kentucky University, School of Teacher Education, is seeking candidates for a full-time tenure-track Assistant Professor position. The start date for the position is August 2013.

Responsibilities: Teach courses at the undergraduate/graduate level in mild/moderate disabilities; provide effective leadership and supervision of field experiences; conduct research and scholarly activities; work collaboratively with other faculty to develop and implement effective and appropriate programs and policies; serve on university, college and program committees; demonstrate an active commitment to diversity within the Special Education program including faculty, staff, and students; serve as faculty advisor to undergraduate and graduate students; support student engagement in community service learning activities.
Qualifications: Earned doctorate or ABD in special education, demonstrated ability to conduct quantitative and/or qualitative research in special education, demonstrated experience and excellence in teaching, outreach and service, experience (at least 3 years) teaching special education in elementary and/or secondary schools, excellent written and oral communication and strong interpersonal skills; potential for attracting external funding; ability to incorporate technology in the classroom, experience with alternative methods of delivery or web-based instruction or strong desire to gain experience with alternative methods of delivery.
