Prida Award Guidelines


For recognition at the annual GFCB awards ceremony

The Prida Award recognizes and honors faculty, staff and administrators who demonstrate commitment and outstanding support to the education of business students. A $1,000 cash award is granted to the recipient or placed in a professional development account for their use.

Applications and Nominations:

Full‐time faculty, staff and administrators in the Gordon Ford College of Business are eligible for the Prida Award. Individuals may apply or be nominated. A letter of nomination or application must include a statement of reasons and documentation of contributions by the prospective awardee. Nominations and applications may not exceed three‐single spaced pages. Applications and nominations must be submitted to the Office of the Dean by noon on March 22.  Nominees are reviewed and selected by the Gordon Ford Leadership Team.

Criteria, Recommendation and Presentation of Award:

General criteria considered in reviewing applications includes demonstrated initiatives which improve student advising in formal or informal settings, career development efforts, leadership and personal skill development of students in curricular and co‐curricular activities, measurable and documented research accomplishments which relate to improvement of quality and quantity of student service activities, recruiting efforts to attract academically talented students to the Gordon Ford College of Business and retention efforts which lead to student competence and completion of degrees from the Ford College and Western Kentucky University. Presentation of the award will be made at the annual college awards ceremony in the spring semester.

The relevance and timing of benefits to present and future students, faculty, future employers and external constituents, and improvement in overall student learning and competence are other dimensions of importance in the selection of the Prida Award designee.

A person must have been an employee of the University for a minimum of three years to be eligible for this award. A recipient of this award is not eligible to receive the award for two years following their selection.
