2012 Biotech REU Application
Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis. For consideration, applications must be postmarked by Friday, March 2, 2012. ONLY COMPLETE APPLICATION PACKETS WILL BE EVALUATED. Letters of recommendation and transcripts should be signed or stamped across the seal and included in the application packet.
All materials should be mailed as a complete packet to the address below.

Complete Applications must include:
- A signed coversheet

A resume
- Resumes should include the following information if applicable:
- Name, Address (permanent and current), email, telephone number
- Educational Background (University, Major and Minor; High School)
- Previous Research Experience
- Please describe any undergraduate thesis project, research courses (include course title), paid research experience, or other summer research experience. Provide a description of the work and skills you developed
- Publications
- Presentations (Please provide the Title, Date, and Venue)
- Honors/Awards
- Resumes should include the following information if applicable:

A personal statement
- Explain your interest in the WKU REU program in Investigative Biotechnology. Be certain to discuss your field(s) of scientific interest and aspects of your background that you believe will ensure your success as participant in this program. Also indicate your career objectives. Your response must be 300-500 words.

Undergraduate transcripts
- Transcripts must be stamped across the seal and mailed with the complete application.

Two Letters of Recommendation
- You must obtain two letters of recommendation, preferably from science professors under whom you have studied or conducted research. Each letter of recommendation is treated as a confidential communication between the recommender and the REU selection committee. Applicants will not have access to their letters of recommendation unless permission is granted in writing by the recommender(s). Letters should be signed across the seal and mailed with the rest of the application.
