Bowling Green Parks & Recreation: Senior Citizen / Adult Day Center Outreach Programs

Held at the Housing Authority of Bowling Green,12 monthly programs offered. Volunteers have the opportunity to assist with a monthly Senior Citizen program that serves between 20 – 30 participants. Each month features between 8-12 activities.

Has the current volunteer opportunities available within the Senior Services Program: Home Delivered Meals preparation and cleanup: 3 volunteers* are needed daily, Monday-Friday, from 8:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. (*Individual can volunteer one day per week or all five days). The responsibility of this service includes daily preparation of home delivered meals which involves plating meal and preparing/packing containers for meal/beverage delivery. After all meals have left for delivery, the volunteers will also be responsible for area cleanup which involves cleaning of steam table, washing pans/utensils, and mopping floor in food preparation area. Training on correct meal preparation/cleanup will be provided. Volunteers will be required to sign a confidentiality agreement and allow us to do a criminal records check.
Home Delivered Meals Rider:
4 volunteers* are needed daily, Monday-Friday, from 9:00 a.m. until 11:30 a.m., rain or shine. (*Individual can volunteer one day per week or all five days). These volunteers will ride with the meal delivery drivers with the understanding that the volunteer will be getting in and out of the van to deliver the meal to the recipients door. Volunteers will be required to sign a confidentiality agreement and allow us to do a criminal records check.

Village Manor/Christian Health Center
Volunteers are needed to answer phones/doors in the Christian Health Center from 6pm to 8 pm any day of the week. This will help their evening staff members to focus more on resident care. It will also assist in timely responses to people wanting to come in or those calling on the phone.
