Support GroupsAdoption Support Group The Adoption Resource Center will have a parent support group and training the third Thursday of every month with the exception of June and July. Various topics are discussed that are unique to foster and adoptive parents. These meeting are at 441 Church Ave. in Bowling Green. Refreshments and free child care are provided. The Adoption Resource Center is a program of the Family EnrichmentCenter. After the Stork (New Mom Support Group) Alcohol Support Groups Alcoholics Anonymous will meet from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Sunday through Friday and at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the 13th Street Club. Diabetes Support Groups The Diabetes Care and Education Group will meet at 1:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. the second Tuesday of each month at the Health and Wellness Center at Greenwood Mall. For the Bowling Green-Warren County area: A diabetes support group is open to people with diabetes and their family members. Carolynn Burton, RN, certified diabetes educator, will lead the group. This support group offers friendship, understanding and hope to bereaved parents, grandparents and siblings. There is no religious affiliation and there are no membership dues or fees. The mission is to assist families toward the positive resolution of grief following the death of a child of any age and to provide information to help others be supportive. New members are welcome. NAMI Family-to-Family Education Program is a 12-week course for families of individuals with severe brain disorders (mental illnesses). The curriculum focuses on schizophrenia, bipolar disorder (manic depression), clinical depression, panic disorder and obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD). The course discusses clinical treatment of these illnesses and teaches the knowledge and skills that family members need to cope more effectively. Classes are free. Military Family Support Group Multiple Sclerosis Muscular Dystrophy Parenting Support Parents as Teachers: Parents as Teachers is a parent education and family support program serving families throughout pregnancy until the child reaches age five. By knowing what to expect as their child develops parents are better able to provide for their child's needs. For more information call the Family Enrichment Center at 781-6714. Supervised Visitation: Family Enrichment Center provides private supervised visitation and mediation for families that have custody, reunification, domestic violence, child abuse and/or other family crises.
