Aviation Camp 2009

Description: Camp topics and activities include: Fly an aircraft with a certified instructor, Flight simulations with laptop computers, Learn about aviation careers, Engine and aircraft design, Technology of flight and Model airplane flight competition.

Bowling Green Police Junior Police Academy 2009
Date: June 22-24 (Applications begin on April 30th, 2008)
Sign ups begin at BGHS on the May 6th at the Summer Activities Fair to sign up.

Time: 8:30 am - 4 pm
Ages: Boys & girls, 10-13
Location: June 22-23: Safety City Campus (in Greenwood HS parking lot); June 24: Bowling Green Police Headquarters, 911 Kentucky Street

Cost: $30/child (includes lunch, snacks, t-shirt, hat, binder and other items)
(Financial aid may be available to a limited number of students)
Description: Students will participate in the following activities: Basic introduction to criminal law and police procedures, Personal and traffic safety, Special guest speakers, Fingerprinting and crime scene investigation, Tour of the Warren County Jail. Graduation is Friday at 3pm (parents welcome).

Medical Center Babysitting Clinic 2009
All classes will take place at The Medical Center Health & Wellness Center at the Greenwood Mall, 2625 Scottsville Road.

Topics include basic childcare, cooking safety, “Clear the Airway,” first aid, setting your fees and marketing yourself. Lunch will be provided.

WKU Mass Media Workshops for Teens 2009
From on-line to on-air and so much more.
The 7th annual High School Media workshops offer two or four days
of training in photography, broadcasting, InDesign, Photoshop
and newspaper writing.
Designed to challenge and motivate students this annual workshop
is sponsored by the Kentucky High School Media Institute and the
School of Journalism & Broadcasting.

Western Kentucky University Police Explorer Post #825 2009 Leadership Academy
Date: July 12th through July 17th
Age: 16 and older
Cost: $315.00

Description: There will be numerous practical training exercises held during the Academy. There will be a live firearm practical exercise where you will learn the proper safety precautions and firing techniques associated with firearms from a certified firearms instructor. You will have the opportunity to experience scenarios that are true to the police profession. These scenarios will include traffic stops, building searches, field sobriety testing and handcuffing techniques.  Additionally, you will participate in low and high ropes leadership/team building activities and physical fitness activities. The Academy will expand your decision making abilities and above all personal leadership skills.
