Student Opportunities

at the ALIVE Center

 

The WKU ALIVE Center offers a number of unpaid internships during the fall and spring semesters for students at Western Kentucky University. in addition, the Center offers at least one student worker position during the year. Anyone interested in student opportunities at the Center should refer to the contact email included in the description. Midway through the semester, the internship descriptions and application deadline dates are posted for the upcoming semester. The spring 2012 internships have all been filled.

Student Worker (click for a full description):

The student worker for the WKU ALIVE Center for Community Partnerships assists with the day-to-day functions of the Center, as well as assists in the development of volunteerism and campus/community Partnerships. Communications & Marketing internship (click for full description):

The Communications & Marketing intern for the WKU ALIVE Center for Community Partnerships assists with building relationships between the ALIVE CCP and campus and community partners. This position is supervised by the Communications & Marketing Coordinator. Responsibilities include but are not limited to communicating with campus and community partners to increase community engagement efforts, assisting with special event planning, and researching information to improve programming outcomes. Community Partnerships Internship (click for full description):

The Community Partnerships intern for the WKU ALIVE Center for Community Partnerships builds and improves relationships between the ALIVE CCP and campus and community partners. This position is supervised by the Community Engagement Coordinator. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, communicating with campus and community partners to learn about the needs and assets of our partners, coordinating workshops to bring together parties interested in joining forces towards a common goal, and documenting successful partnerships to feature in our publications. Digital Media and Design Internship (click for full description):

The Digital Media and Design intern for the WKU ALIVE Center for Community Partnerships assists with publication and web design for the ALIVE CCP and campus and community partners. Gained knowledge and experience as an intern may include but not limited to, researching and developing methods for effective layouts for publications, assisting with preparing promotional pieces for special events and programs, conducting photography and videography, and assisting with social networking. Multicultural Services Internship (click for full description):

The Multicultural Services intern for the WKU ALIVE Center for Community Partnerships takes a leading role in our projects with the local immigrant, refugee, and minority populations, as well as with our multicultural events. This position is supervised by the Community Engagement Coordinator. Responsibilities include but are not limited to communicating with our partners and clients to learn about needs and assets, coordinating logistics for events and projects, maintaining information, conducting projects, and assisting the staff as needed. Service-Learning Internship (click for full description):

The Service-Learning intern for the WKU ALIVE Center for Community Partnerships helps coordinate campus and community partners involved in service-learning projects. This position is supervised by the Community Engagement Coordinator. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, communicating with our service-learning partners to learn about the needs and assets, coordinating logistics for service-learning projects with community partners, helping guide students and faculty with project development and implementation, and assisting the Community Engagement coordinator with her service-learning role as needed.
