ALIVE NOVEMBER ONLINE NONPROFIT SPOTLIGHT

CRUISIN FOR A CURE

Cruisin for a CureCruisin For A Cure is a group of individuals that are fighting to find a cure for Juvenile Diabetes. Cruisin For a Cure was started in August of this year, with just a couple people and an idea to host a fundraiser for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.  It is amazing how the idea turned something that the community is so passionate about.  Hundreds of children in our community suffer from this terrible disease.  The group truly believes that medical research is very close to having a cure for Juvenile Diabetes and they are passionate about reaching their goal of $100,000.00 by September 25, 2010.

You may have seen the group on about any given weekend at events raising money.  They have hosted and participated in car washes, yard sales, benefit rides, car shows, parades, festivals and more.  Junior Walker of Walkers Towing in Bowling Green donated a 1952 Chevrolet Pickup truck that he had purchased for himself as a project or $20,000.00.  This truck was given to Cruisin For a Cure to restore and raffle off.  Parts, labor, and time has been donated by many businesses and individuals in the community.  CFC would like to thank all those who have donated their time and money to this great project.  Sponsors are listed below.  The winner will be drawn on September 25, 2009 at the main event at the Corvette Museum and the winner will get to choose from the truck or $20,000.00.

They have many upcoming events including a Chili Supper on November 14th at Teresa’s Restaurant, and a benefit night at Bob Evans on November 12th.  They are also at Smokey Bones on Tuesday nights for the car show where they sell 50/50 tickets, truck tickets, and host a corn hole tournament.  If you would like more information on any of these events please contact Tasha Hatcher at 270 901-2951.  They will also have truck tickets for sale anytime between now and September 25, 2010 and those can be purchased at any of the events or from a board member.
