Ms. Sowmya Karamcheti

Sowmya Lakshmi Karamcheti was recently hired as a Graduate Assistant with the Center for Gerontology. Sowmya is from India, and traveled to WKU to pursue her Master of Health Administration degree. Sowmya has an undergraduate degree in Dental Surgery (BDS) from Dr. N.T.R. University of Health Sciences awarded in November 2012. While there, Sowmya was awarded the best poster presentation at the National BDS Student Seminar on Oral Medicine and Radiology organized by the Indian Academy of Oral Medicine & Radiology. The topic of her presentation was ”Maxillofacial Trauma Imaging.”
Sowmya is also a performer of Indian Classical Music (Carnatic Vocal) and says “Singing is a passion for me.” She was one of the lead participants in a program conducted by a group called Silicon Andhra wherein more than one hundred thousand singers sang under one roof in both 2009 & 2010. Both events were recorded by Guinness Book of World Records.
Sowmya says she is has always been interested in working with older adults and is looking forward to her new job working with the Center for Gerontology.
