Transfer Credit Information

Transfer Credit Information

WKU offers various academic paths for all WKU students to consider when attending the university. We are excited you have made the choice of transferring to WKU. It is the goal of WKU to make this transition as seamless as possible. Throughout this page you will find resources for your use while attending WKU.

How will my Credits Transfer?

In order to provide more accurate information and better service to prospective transfer students, an unofficial transcript which will reflect any updated transfer articulation will be made available (usually within 10 working days) after admitted to the University. This is done to help ensure that all official transcripts are received and evaluated properly and that the transfer student is admitted to the University. You may view your transfer articulation along with any updated transfer information on TopNet.

One of the major questions you may have initially is, "how are my credits going to transfer?" The Admissions Office at WKU provides information through the Transfer Credit Equivalencies page through their website. Please do utilize that tool in order to determine how students who have previously transferred to WKU had their credit transfer. For further questions about course articulation please do contact your academic advisor. The Explanation of Transfer Articulation page may also provide answers to many of your questions.

In cases when there is not a specific WKU course equivalency (or an exact equivalency has not been determined), you may petition WKU departments if you believe a course should be equivalent to a WKU course. You should request the department head to complete the Request for Transfer Equivalency Form available on the iCAP website; if the transferred course is either equivalent to a WKU course or will be accepted in lieu of a WKU course.
