It is the individual instructor’s responsibility to inform students,
in writing, on the first day the class meets of the guidelines for implementing
the instructor’s attendance policy. An instructor who determines
that a student’s absenteeism is inconsistent with the instructor’s
stated policy should either counsel with the student or request that the
Academic Advising and Retention Center arrange a counseling session with
the student.
For the convenience of faculty, an Attendance Report Form may be submitted
to the Academic Advising and Retention Center at any point in the semester.
Students reported will be notified that their class attendance is unsatisfactory,
informed of the number of absences reported and encouraged to contact
the instructor immediately. A copy of the correspondence will be placed
in the student’s permanent record folder.
For a copy of the Attendance Report Form, faculty may consult the departmental
office associate or contact the Academic Advising and Retention Center.
