Advice for new Hilltoppers?

I would recommend that students take advantage of every opportunity possible to get involved around campus, outside of the classroom. Whether that be joining a club or organization or applying for student worker positions, the best way to feel connected to campus is to be involved. Not only will you meet new people, but you also can build lasting connections that will stay with you even after your time as a student is complete.

What does the WKU experience mean to you?

For me, the WKU experience is all about putting yourself outside of your comfort zone. Trying new things, meeting new people and learning about the greater world around us outside of our Bowling Green/Kentucky bubble. People from all over the country, and the world, call WKU home, whether that be students, faculty or staff and I believe you should strive to learn as much as possible from these experiences.

What favorite WKU tradition and/or memory is:

From June-July of 2019, I had the amazing opportunity to participate in a Study Abroad program in Morocco with the Political Science Department. The memories and experiences I gained from this trip have stuck with me ever since. From the Strait of Gibraltar in the north, to Marrakech in the south, we traveled all over the country learning about the relationship between the religion of Islam and government in majority Muslim countries. I recommend that every student try and take advantage of a study abroad opportunity because they are unique experiences that you can rarely find anywhere else.

What is your favorite spot on WKU's campus?

My favorite spot on campus would have to be Downing Student Union. As a central location for campus, DSU is a great place to grab a bite to eat or a cup of coffee, or a meeting spot to catch up with friends and colleagues. DSU is a centralized location for many things on campus, such as The WKU Store, The ID center, the food court, study rooms. Whatever you’re looking for, you can typically find it in DSU!
