General Admission Requirements

Applicants need to be admitted to the Graduate College:

  • Complete the online WKU graduate application. (NOTE: Select "Apply First Time Graduate & Transfer" if you have not taken graduate courses at WKU before. Select "Apply for Graduate Readmission" only if you have previously taken WKU graduate courses.)
  • Submit the online application with your official transcript and the $40 application fee.
  • Any questions? Contact graduate.studies@wku.edu, (270) 745-2446.
  • Approximately 10-14 days after all required admission documents have been submitted, you should receive a letter from the WKU Admissions Office confirming your acceptance to WKU.

Applicants to the M.A.E.- Adult Education program need a minimum GAP Score (GRE x GPA) of 2200 with an Analytical Writing score of 3.5 or greater. Students who have taken the GRE prior to October 1, 2002 will need to have a GAP Score [(V + Q + A) * GPA] of 3500 or greater. Applicants who do not meet the minimum requirements are encouraged to take the GRE again to improve their scores.

If, after the second attempt at the GRE, applicants whose GAP scores do not meet the minimum requirements but are above 2200 with the new GRE are encouraged to submit an alternate admission portfolio.

WKU is interested in applicants from all backgrounds and we strongly encourage applications from people of under represented groups. WKU is committed to equal opportunity in its educational programs and does not discriminate on the basis of age, race, color, religion, gender, national origin, or sexual orientation.
