Team members are (from left) Kristie McDuffee, Jennifer Honeycutt, Gloria Smith, Keshia
Shockley and Christy Traughber.
The PEAK Competition uses a quiz-show format in which participants answer tough questions from the Uniform CPA Exam.
"It's a cool event and takes a lot of prep work on the part of participants to not only be accurate, but also fast on the buzzer," said Lorri Malone, KyCPA director of communications.
In addition to the traveling trophy, each member of the winning team received a $1,000 KyCPA Educational Foundation scholarship.
The team from WKU's Gordon Ford College of Business included Keshia Shockley, a spring 2012 graduate from Bowling Green; Gloria Smith, a spring 2012 graduate from Glasgow; Kristie McDuffe, a spring 2012 graduate from Scottsville; Christy Traughber, a senior from Adairville; and Jennifer Honeycutt, a spring 2012 graduate from Glasgow. Sheri Henson is the faculty advisor.
The team from Eastern Kentucky University finished second while Lindsey Wilson College placed third. Becker Professional Education partnered with KyCPA to prepare for the competition and sponsor the second and third place prizes.
The competition took place April 27 at the Galt House in Louisville.
