2005
The Kentucky budget provides $3.75 million plus $5 million in bonding capacity to retrofit Schneider Hall to be the home of the Carol Martin Gotton Academy of Mathematics and Science in Kentucky.

2006
The Kentucky budget provides $500,000 for the 2006-2007 year to plan and recruit the first 120 Gatton Academy students and $2.8 million for 2007-2008 to implement the year-long Gatton Academy program.

February 2006
Preparations for renovation begins on Schneider Hall.

May 2006
Bids are opened, and renovation begins.

August 2007
Gatton Academy students move into the completed dorm as members of the first classes at the Carol Martin Gatton Academy of Mathematics and Science in Kentucky.
