Research Contract

To be signed by Gatton Academy students and their research professor at the onset of their research experience.  The form must be turned in to Derick Strode, Coordinator: Research, Internships and Scholarships.

Research Supplies Grant (RSG) Application

$150 grants given to the professor/department who is supervising Academy students to be used for supplies the Gatton student may need to conduct research.  Applications for RSGs are accepted throughout the year.  Grants can be given at a rate of one per student, per academic year.

Summer Time Research Internships Grant

The Gatton Academy offers grants to support summer time research internships performed by Gatton Academy students.  Grant applications are reviewed and approved by the Gatton Academy Leadership Team on Mondays in the spring semester.  The grant can be awarded in two scenarios: 1. If an Academy student is doing research on WKU’s campus with a WKU faculty member for all or part of the summer, the grant can be distributed to the host academic department to help support the creation of opportunities for Gatton students’ experiences. 2. If the Gatton student is doing research off WKU’s campus that is not fully paid, the Gatton student can apply for the grant to help support their travel, housing, program costs, etc. that they will incur.   The Academy’s intent is to support our students in exploring new research frontiers during their summers.

Gatton Education Abroad Scholarship Application

The Gatton Academy offers our current students $500 scholarships to study abroad on credit-bearing study abroad trips in the summer time (so long as the dates of the travel do not overlap with the regular spring or fall WKU semesters).  Eligibility to receive this award relies on students traveling on a credit-bearing study abroad trip offered by WKU faculty, through WKU’s study abroad consortium partners, or through other approved study abroad organizations.  Deadline to apply is April 15 for all summer-term trips. The Academy’s intent with the Gatton Education Abroad Scholarship is to help make study abroad affordable for our students and an integral part of the Academy experience.  Students should note that winter-term study abroad trips are not eligible for this award; instead, if you are a Gatton Academy student studying abroad during winter term, the amount that would be paid toward your tuition is credited toward your trip.
