ADP Initiatives at WKU Political Engagement Project Civic Agency Initiative Seven Revolutions eCitizenship Related Links Institute for Citizenship & Social Responsibility	he American Democracy Project at WKU is not simply about civic participation, but about learning. We believe that, in order for our students to develop as contributing citizens in a global society, they must be given more than just the opportunity to become involved in civic activities. They must also explore the broader context in which the issues reside, and assimilate the civic skills and perspectives necessary for them to effect social change. All are critical to building a lifelong commitment to social responsibility. Our ADP initiatives are organized around three student learning outcomes: Demonstrate the ability to apply civic skills necessary to influence public discourse and public policy. Demonstrate awareness of the diverse issues surrounding topics of social relevance. Demonstrate commitment to impacting social policy as educated citizens in a global society. WKU’s American Democracy Project draws on the creativity of our faculty and staff in engaging students in meaningful ways, the commitment of the administration in supporting social responsibility as a critical educational goal, and the passion of our students in seeking ways to have a positive impact on community and society. WKU is proud to have been among the founding group of ADP institutions, part of the pilot groups for both the Political Engagement Project and Seven Revolutions, and to serve as the lead campus for the Stewardship of Public Lands Initiative.
