A little history: The park occupies the spot that was the location of Diddle Dorm. The house was built in 1900 and was private home until 1923. After that, the house served as a music building, a women's dorm, a men's dorm and then basketball dorm. The Diddle family lived in the home for a number of years. The home was razed in 1994.
