Bradley A. Wheeler, CPA is a 1995 graduate of Western Kentucky University with a B.S. in accounting. A Certified Public Accountant since 1997, Brad received his first position at Holland, CPA’s, the largest local accounting firm in Bowling Green, in the audit department.
The primary responsibilities were working on several audits in the local area. The external audit of various types of organizations included several local school districts, area electric divisions, chamber of commerce, and non-for-profit organizations, including but not limited to Harden County Board of Education, Bowling Green City Schools, Russellville Independent, Simpson County Board of Education, Ogden College Foundation, BGMU – Electric Division, WRECC – Electric Division, Bowling Green/Warren County Chamber of Commerce, Logan County Chamber of Commerce, Bowling Green/Warren County Industrial Authorities, Lifeskills, United Way of Southern Kentucky, Bowling Green/Warren County Humane Society, Housing Assistant Development Services, and the Rape Crisis Center (among others).
In December of 1999, Brad became the Accounting Manager of Western Kentucky University, managing the Accounting Department. The duties involved were assisting the Controller in various capacities related to technical accounting and financial statement reporting issues. Major projects during this time included the recording of the Student Life Foundation (the first of its type in the nation), implementation of GASB 34 & 35 for the University (the most significant change in over 40 years), implementation of Banner Finance, and working with the external auditors for four audit cycles.
Volunteer activities have included Assistant Treasurer to the Southern Kentucky Fair, Treasurer to the Bowling Green/Warren County Jaycees, financial accounting help at Girl’s Inc., and is currently the WKU Student Advisor to the Student Fellowship of Old Time Baptists and Treasurer for the Friends at Riverview.
