Violin and Viola Lessons for Beginners

Violin and Viola Fun Facts!

Why study a string instrument? – Learning to play a stringed instrument, such as the violin and viola, has many benefits both physical and intellectually for your child. Studies show that students who learn to play a string instrument have significantly higher test scores than children who not play an instrument.

How do I sign up for lessons? – All beginning students will sign up for lessons through the PAT Program at the Continuing Education Office at WKU’s South Campus. The PAT program (Private Applied Teaching) uses talented undergraduate students at Western to teach lessons to beginner students. PAT instructors are highly supervised by Pre-College faculty members.

What will the lessons cost? – all beginning students will take a 30 minute lesson each week. The fee for the 12-week term is as follows:
Twelve 30 minute lessons = $150 – fee will be pro-rated for late beginners. The pre-college office will accept half-tuition with the understanding that the balance will be paid by middle of the term.

Where will the lessons be held? – All lessons will be held on the 3rd floor of the Ivan Wilson Fine Arts building on Western’s main campus.
