Special Projects

  • CENTENNIAL CELEBRATION – Partnered with other university personnel in the production of a major exhibit, pictorial history, public service announcements for television broadcasts, calendar and special events honoring Western’s first 100 years.
  • KYLM WEBSITE FOR GENERAL PUBLIC – With Sandy Staebell and Betty Yambrek, designed and provided content for KYLM website template and 411 webpages (present version accessible at www.wku.edu/Library/kylm/ ), 2003.
  • HILLTOPPERS QUARTET RESEARCH – Extensive research, including checking every page of the 1950s issues of Billboard for mention of the Hilltoppers quartet, charting all references found, photocopying for the collection first appearance of each unique advertisement or article, 2001-02.
  • KENTUCKIANA DIGITAL LIBRARY SUBMISSIONS - Submitted and later edited for the Kentuckiana Digital Library of the Kentucky Virtual Library the descriptive inventories for 281 collections from Manuscripts, & Folklife Archives and 18 from University Archives, 2000-01.
  • RECORD SERIES ADDITIONS TO STATE UNIVERSITY RETENTION SCHEDULES – Submitted Records Description Analyses to the State Records Analyst which resulted in the addition of 12 new records series to the State University Model Records Retention Schedule, 1998.
  • “OVER HERE, OVER THERE” play and related video research assistance to researchers Mary Hall Surface and Amy Thompson for Warren County Bicentennial Celebration, 1997.
  • EAST TENNESSEE BAPTIST ASSOCIATIONS’ CATALOGING - Created online catalog records for printed minutes never previously cataloged in OCLC or RLIN, 1993-94.
  • WORLD WAR II 5Oth ANNIVERSARY - In April 1990, planned with Alumni Affairs a special emphasis on WKU’s World War II veterans in 1992; used alumni magazine, press release, solicitation letter to alumni, and alumni reunion events and exhibit.
  • OPERATION DESERT STORM/VIETNAM WAR - Press release distributed statewide on Aug. 19, 1991 utilized by numerous newspapers and radio stations, and resulted in the acquisition of 17 collections.

  • Consultant and interviewee for the Heartland Series segments, “A Death in the Family,” and “Expressions of Grief,” which was televised on Channel 10, Knoxville, TN, Feb. 21-March 4, 1994 and has re-aired many times over the years.
  • Served as consultant for the Wake at Adsmore, a historic house in Princeton, KY, Jan. 1990.
