Although they suffered extreme hardships and tremendous loss of lives, the First Kentucky Brigade proved to be "the best brigade in the Confederate Army." Besides tents, open campfires, several static cannons, and a few picketed horses, re-enactments will include:

  • Early morning drills
  • Cooking over open campfires
  • Political speakers running for office
  • Camp chaplain conducting a revival of the period
  • Execution of a deserter
  • Punishment administered to a camp thief

    Also:

  • Period music by Saxton's Cornet Band
  • Wet-plate photography by Tim Parson
  • Presentation about Orphan Brigade surgeon John Orlando Scott, by Hugh Ridenour
  • Food (available for purchase)
