Bill Sanders played quarterback for Western Kentucky State College from 1952 to 1954. In 1953 he completed .667 percent of his passes, a NCAA college-division record. He was invited to try out by the Cleveland Browns of the NFL but entered the United States Army after graduation to fulfill his ROTC commitments.
