Nurses at City Hospital with landscape
architect, Richard F. Gloede, ca. 1928. Opened in 1926, City
Hospital was remodeled in 1952 and opened as Bowling Green-Warren
County Hospital. Local residents referred to it as "City-County".

In 1939 Dr. G. Y. Graves and Dr. J. T.
Gilbert opened a clinic in Bowling Green to serve the growing
medical needs of the community. After several expansions, the
clinic moved to a new building where it still operates.
Dedicated in September 1942, the Warren
County Tuberculosis Sanatorium served Warren and surrounding
counties. The twenty-bed hospital, located near Riverside, treated
600 patients between 1942 and 1949. The sanatorium operated until
1956 when it was replaced by the Sunrise Hospital on the western
edge of Bowling Green. Sunrise closed in 1968.
