In 1910, 14,604 crates of strawberries, filling 39 railroad cars, were sent to markets in Louisville, Indianapolis, Chicago, Detroit, Cincinnati, Cleveland, Columbus, Dayton and Springfield. Each car carried 12,000 -14,000 pounds of ice to cool the produce.
