New York: a city searching for hope

Firefighter Bob Barrett can’t conceal his emotion as the days pass after the collapse of the World Trade Center. Fourteen were missing from his firehouse, Barrett said. Hope that missing firefighters would be found was giving way to the realization that they were not coming home.
