Even as New Yorkers were just beginning to dig their way out of the thick layer of gray-brown dust that coated their city after the collapse of the World Trade Center, a new color scheme began to emerge: red, white, and blue. Flags of all sizes popped up at Ground Zero, spread all over Manhattan and across the nation as patriotism enjoyed its greatest revival in over 50 years. Photo by Michael Bunch |
