New York: a city searching for hope

Firefighters in full dress uniform await the hearse carrying Father Mychal Judge after his funeral at the St. Francis of Assisi Church, “Father Mike,” the beloved chaplain of the Fire Department of New York, was listed as the first casualty of the Sept. 11 attack. He was particularly close to firefighters in Engine Company 1/Ladder 24, which is located across the street from the church.
