Nature's Bounty: Quilts and More

About This Exhibit

Pieced, appliquéd, embroidered, or woven, handcrafted textiles often reflect nature. While flowers were a perennial favorite, many animals, particularly birds, have inspired blocks, motifs, and embroidered details.

The approach in the textiles in this exhibit varies. In some, the pattern was conceived realistically while in others the design was rendered abstractly. Whatever the intent of the maker, these textiles brought beauty and a bit of the natural world into the American home.

Textiles on display from August 16, 2006 - January 28, 2007.
