Clara M. Eagle was born in Columbus, Ohio on June 16, 1908. She graduated from Ohio State University with both a B.S. and M.A. in Education. Clara attended the School for American Craftsmen and also studied with John Huntington. For sixteen years she taught art in Ohio before moving to western Kentucky. From 1946 to 1973, Eagle served as a professor of art and the head of Murray State College Art Department. The honorary title of Emeritus Professor was bestowed upon her in 1973. Eagle was a founding member of the Kentucky Guild of Artists and Craftsmen. Eagle lived in Calloway County until her death at age 76 on January 6, 1985.
