Painting, 1967 Sally (Hazelet) Drummond was born June 4, 1924 in Evanston, Illinois. In 1945 Sally moved with her family to Louisville, Kentucky. She attended Rollins College in Florida from 1941 to 1944 then moved to New York where she earned her B.A. in 1948 from Columbia University studying with John Heliker and Peppino Mangravite. In 1949 Drummond entered the Institute of Design in Chicago where she worked with Hugo Weber and Emerson Woelffer. The following year she enrolled in the University of Louisville. There she studied with Ulfert Wilke, earning her M.A. in 1952. Upon graduation she traveled to Italy on a Fulbright Fellowship. A Guggenheim Foundation Fellowhip allowed Drummond to study in France from 1967 to 1968. Drummond exhibited at the Speed Art Museum in Louisville as part of a 1951 Kentucky-Invitational Exhibition. The museum also sponsored a one-person show for Drummond in 1967. Drummond now makes New York her home. |
