Mary Louise "Terry" Baringer was born April 7, 1900 in Louisville, Kentucky where she took art courses as electives in high school. In her early twenties, "Terry" took a position at Citizen's Fidelity Bank and Trust Co. in Louisville. She worked there for 43 years using vacations to study at Louisville's Art Center, the Art Students League in New York, the Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center and in a Provincetown, Massachusetts art colony. Upon retirement, Baringer replaced Nelle Peterson as Director of the Art Center Association School in 1966 ending a ten-year hiatus from her artistic pursuits due to the demands of her banking job. Baringer kept the position for four years. She sculpted, painted, silversmithed and made jewelry. On December 13, 1988, Terry Baringer died in Jefferson County at age 88.
