Stadium colonnade
One of Davis’ most intriguing campus designs was the stadium built in 1927. It sits on the site of the former limestone quarry, which the school paper called "an eyesore to the students of Western." Davis’ stadium, crowned with a lovely colonnade of the Ionic Order, afforded spectators a panoramic view of the rolling Kentucky countryside. Showers, lockers and bathrooms were located under the stadium. Hundreds of loads of fill were used to level the floor of the playing field.

The athletic field and stadium were used for a variety of purposes, including outdoor pageants such as this one in 1928.
