The star blocks in this quilt were pieced around 1940. Riggins set them within the Tumbling Blocks pattern to compensate for the variation in their sizes. She chose yellow for the new blocks since "it acts as a neutral color with the stars while also highlighting them" and used selected print fabrics for the exterior border.
