William S. Ashby (1869-1939)

William S. Ashby was born in Bruceville, Indiana. His teaching career took him from Indiana to Texas,
then in 1896 to Bowling Green where he joined the faculty of the Southern Normal School and Bowling
Green Business College. When the Business College became a separately owned school, Ashby
became its business manager. He served in that capacity, and as registrar, until his retirement in 1938.

William L. Matthews purchased Ashby's interest in the school, becoming second Vice-President while
J. Murray Hill assumed the responsibilities of Business Manager.
