The enrollees worked to improve the gates of many of the caves in the Mammoth Cave National Park. These gates were designed and approved by the park naturalist Claude Hibbard to afford plenty of openings for bats to come and go out of these entrances. These gates protected the cultural artifacts, several animal species, and geological formations. These gates also help protect people from unsafe conditions inside caves for the unprepared.
