NP-4 Camp, Company 516, was established on July 6, 1934. This camp was located on the north side of the Green River, what was then called the Cade area. This site is currently called Maple Springs and is used in the park for groups today.
These enrollees were responsible for operating a large stone quarry, crushing the rock and distributing it to be used on roadwork. The enrollees performed much roadwork in the park, laying the gravel, surfacing and oiling the roads, clearing ditch lines, installed culverts, constructing drains and grades, and building retaining walls. The enrollees worked to control erosion by building 500 temporary check dams and planting trees. They also assisted in fire hazard reduction, removing small trees and stumps. The men were trained in fire fighting and did fight fires as needed.
NP-4 Camp was disbanded in 1942.
