Camp Np-1, Company 510 at Mammoth Cave was the first CCC camp established in Kentucky, on May 22, 1933. It was located on the site of what had been the Bluegrass Country Club on Flint Ridge, with nine buildings from the club being used and revamped by the enrollees. This same site later served as the 1st location of the Job Corps at Mammoth Cave.

Initially this camp began with both white and African American enrollees, but then later became an all African American camp. They became a model camp, receiving such high marks at inspections that they were rated as the best camp in the entire V Corps region (Kentucky, Ohio, Indiana, and West Virginia) for three consecutive years.

NP-1 created the majority of the trails inside Mammoth Cave, constructed foot trails, worked in landscaping and maintenance, constructed two 16’ row boats, assisted in erosion control by creating check dams and planting trees, worked to reduce fire hazards by clearing brush throughout the park, and other various projects. While working on the creation of the cave trails, a mummified body of a prehistoric man was found inside the cave by two of the cave guides who were with the CCC enrollees. The enrollees were responsible for removing a large boulder that trapped the body for archeologists.
