Portrait of a Town: Cave City, Kentucky
June 1 - August 30, 2009
This exhibit of approximately sixty images documents the Barren County community of Cave City during the early decades of the twentieth century. The photographs were taken by William R. Reynolds, Jr. who purchased a camera around 1900 and eventually operated a photography studio in Barren County. The prints were made from glass plate negatives donated to the Kentucky Library & Museum by the Dale & Kate Covington, grandchildren of the photographer.

Save the Planet : Kentucky Heritage Quilt Society 2008 Annual Show
May 22 - June 7, 2009
The theme for the 2009 KHQS Annual Show is "save the planet". The quilts and wall hangings included will be made into patterns depicting the seasons, the world (World Without End, Wonder of the World, etc), natural phenomena (Ocean waves, Storms at Sea, etc) with fabric featuring clouds, waves, water, animals, planets, and other nature themes.

The Honey Krust Bakery: 2009 Interior Design Senior Thesis Show

Bowling Green's Honey Krust Bakery building on Adams Street is the thesis project of Western's 2009 Senior Interior Design students. Adaptive reuse of the historic structure is the subject of this year's exhibit featuring the work of 18 students.

Bits and Pieces

One of Bowling Green's touchstone features is its Fountain Square Park. This landmark, completed in May of 1872, has witnessed the many events and changes that have come to our area. The Kentucky Library & Museum houses photographs of this "enchanting green gem" and has a display of some of the early photographs of the park as well as over 50 pieces of the original fountain.
