Kentucky Portraits and Landscapes - Artist-in-Residence Exhibition

New York: A City Searching for Hope
September 11, 2002 - June 2003

Main Street: Mirror of Change

Wander through downtown Bowling Green, Kentucky as it used to be. Experience fine hotels, parades, and nickel movie houses through historic photographs in this nostalgic exhibit about hometown life. Fifty-two photographs of Main Street, Bowling Green, portray people, businesses, transportation, entertainment, and events from 1875 to 1950. Collectively the photographs depict a thriving thoroughfare that contrasts sharply with many contemporary American downtowns. On a less academic level, "Main Street" provides visitors with a fascinating glimpse into the past.

Main Street: Mirror of Change Exhibit Catalog is available through the Museum Store.

September 11, 2002- June 2003

This exhibition tells the story of those persons directly affected by the tragedy of September 11, 2002. Western Kentucky University photojournalism students and faculty traveled to New York where they interviewed relatives of those missing, attended prayer services and candlelight vigils, and most importantly documented what they saw through their camera lens. The display of photographs and playing of a 14-minute multimedia presentation produced by Journalism and Broadcasting faculty member Tim Broekema will touch the hearts of all who see the exhibit.
