There are about 1,300 examples of glassware and ceramics
in the museum collection. The glassware is rather diverse
including condiment dishes, candy jars, tableware, canning
jars, and patent medicine, milk, and soda pop bottles.
Examples of pressed glass patterns include Bull's Eye,
Georgia or Peacock Feather, Whirlwind Sunburst, and Brazil
or Paneled Daisy. The Anne Norton Gaines Collection contains
several fine examples of late nineteenth and early twentieth
century scent bottles. The
museum collection also includes twelve examples of glass
flasks, including a rare campaign flask associated with
General Zachary Taylor.
Ceramics are also varied. Flow Blue, ironstone, stoneware
and Staffordshire are represented in the collection. Various
forms include crocks, jugs, ginger beer bottles, tableware,
salt and pepper shakers, children's tea sets and decorative
figurines.
