Alben William Barkley (November 24, 1877 - April 30, 1956),
a native of Graves County Kentucky, served several
terms in Congress and was the Senate majority leader.
Barkley was Harry S. Truman's running mate in 1948 and
became the thirty-fifth Vice President of the United States.
Barkley was the Truman administration's principal spokesperson
and was included in all cabinet level meetings and meetings
of the National Security Council.
