Selected Portraits from the Museum Collection

A total of 31 magnificent portraits are displayed in our beautiful Kentucky Room. Our portraits come from a variety of artists and time periods. Three large portraits of John C. Breckinridge, Isham Green Harris, and Raphael Semmes were originally commissioned for a Confederate Museum in Virginia. Each is an example of portrait painting at its finest.

Students select a portrait to sketch using Conte crayons. An art "showing" follows along with focused critique led by our artist-in-residence, Lynne Ferguson.
