Note: 1938, When KENTUCKY ROCK ASPHALT COMPANY was flourishing
its operations were visited by a group of state and county
officials with the company's plant superintendent Harry St.
G. T. Carmichael as host. In this 1938 photograph made with
the visitors aboard the Steamer Nolin, on Pigeon Creek are
Gov. A. B. 'Happy' Chandler, seated left; A. B. Mitchell,
Chalybeate, representative of Edmonson and Butler Counties;
and Robert Montgomery, Mayfield, member of the Kentucky Highway
Commission. Among those standing are J. Boadley Davenport,
Sheriff of Warren County; T. C. Ferguson, Smiths Grove, State
Senator; H. T. St. G. Carmichael, Burnett; Emory G. Dent,
Bowling Green, Kentucky Highway Commissioner; William H. Natcher
(standing behind Chandler), Warren County Attorney; Cecil
Williams, Somerset (in shirt sleeves), member of Kentucky
Highway Commission, and Clyde Lester, Representative, Graves
County. On the lower deck is Mose Basham, fireman on the tow
