Lewis-Starling Collection

Correspondence, business papers and genealogical data chiefly of the Lewis, Starling and Bibb families, who migrated to western Kentucky in the early 1800s, comprise the major portion of the collection. Of special interests are the Civil War letters of Samuel M. Starling, who in his 50s, experiences the battle of Perryville, Kentucky, and the chase of John Hunt Morgan into Ohio. Includes also letters of John Bibb, the developer of Bibb lettuce.
